Interventions required and outcome in pregnancy induced hypertension patients in Intensive Care Unit: An observational study

Hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, particularly preeclampsia, eclampsia remain one the leading causes maternal morbidity and mortality worldwide. We studied association between risk factors, interventions required, diagnosis outcome in these patients admitted to Intensive Care Unit (ICU). : conducted a prospective, observational study after Institutional Scientific Ethics committee approval. The record was taken identify 70 women with Pregnancy Induced Hypertension (PIH) ICU meeting inclusion exclusion criteria. Socio-demographic details, indication timing admission were noted. On admission; baseline vitals, detailed history, duration complications, therapeutic interventions, laboratory parameters imaging compiled. Maternal assessed terms needed, complications encountered or discharge follow up done 6 weeks postpartum. Fetal live births Intrauterine fetal death (IUFD), Apgar score, term/preterm followed 7 postnatal days. It observed that out enrolled our study, 48 diagnosed 54 belonged age group 21-30 years, 61 unregistered for antenatal checkup, 46 had term gestation, 52 nulliparous 64 underwent Lower segment caesarean section (LSCS). 60 them postpartum admission, all significant rise blood pressure. Most common transfusion products (n=30) mechanical ventilation (n=6). HELLP syndrome most complication (n=7). seen women. 35 neonates low birth weight, intra uterine growth retardation (IUGR), 19 preterm score at 5 minutes. From observations, it can be concluded majority relatively younger group, no LSCS ICU.
